According to a recent report from Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that running back MarShawn Lloyd “woke up this morning with appendicitis.”
This comes after Lloyd was already placed on Injured Reserve with ankle and hamstring injuries.
While this is already disheartening for a team that has faced multiple issues with injury, it’s especially troubling since Lloyd may not be able to play since his 21-day practice window was already opened.
“Since Lloyd’s 21-day practice window opened already and an appendectomy usually requires several weeks recovery,” Demovsky said, “the Packers are talking to the NFL to see if there’s a way he can still play later on.”
Hopefully, the Packers will be able to work something out with the NFL and Lloyd could return later this season to play.
