Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
June used to be E3 season in the gaming world — a couple weeks of high-profile game announcements from just about every player in the industry, all centered around a big convention in Los Angeles. That show is dead and buried now, but June is still a pretty common time for companies to make big announcements, and 2025 looks to be no different.
Xbox maker Microsoft has announced that it will be holding an Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2025, which it says will give players a look at “upcoming titles from across [its] first-party studios, in addition to incredible new titles from [its] third-party partners across the globe.” The show is said to be digital-only, so there will be no in-person aspect to the show, with it entirely taking place online via livestreams.

The Xbox Games Showcase will then be followed by a specific livestream for The Outer Worlds 2 from Microsoft-owned Obsidian Entertainment – also known for this year’s Avowed – with a host of information for the sequel set to be revealed. It follows on from prior years, which had dedicated showcases for Starfield in 2023 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in 2024.
The announcement comes after Microsoft revealed that Xbox exclusive Fable would be delayed to 2026, after having previously been announced for a 2025 release. The delay left Microsoft’s release schedule looking fairly barren in the second half of the year, something that fans are hoping will be remedied during the Showcase.
When Will the Xbox Games Showcases 2025 Happen?
The 2025 Xbox Games Showcase will take place on June 8, 2025 at 1pm EDT. Here’s what that means for other regions:
- PDT – 10:00am
- EDT – 1:00pm
- BRT – 2:00pm
- BST – 6:00pm
- CEST – 7:00pm
- JST – 2:00am (June 9)
- AEST – 3:00am (June 9)
Microsoft has not revealed how long the presentation will last for, but last year’s event had a runtime of about an hour and 15 minutes, with a further half hour dedicated to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct. 2023’s show lasted for a roughly similar amount of time, so fans can expect to see this year’s event clock in at a similar runtime.
