A shelter dog named Dallas has melted hearts across TikTok after viewers discovered the heartbreaking reason behind his constant barking.
The viral clip, posted by user Daniela (@danielascrima), shows the 6-year-old silver Labrador standing quietly in his kennel at Wayside Waifs, a no-kill animal shelter in Kansas City, Missouri.
The video has since garnered more than 1.3 million views and over 285,300 likes, along with hundreds of emotional comments.
On the front of Dallas’s kennel door hangs a handwritten note that reads: “Please excuse my barking! I am not a mean boy, I am almost completely blind and the shadows walking by scare me. Living in a shelter is hard when you cannot see very well.”
The sign goes on to describe Dallas as “cute” and “friendly” when he is outside his kennel, noting that he loves nothing more than snuggling up to people. According to the caption, Dallas ended up at the shelter after his owner passed away.
