A Memphis woman has struck gold at a local Goodwill Bargain Barn after walking away with a KitchenAid stand mixer for just $4.
Elaina, an avid thrift shopper, stumbled on the silver KitchenAid mixer while browsing through the bins at a Goodwill outlet.
“I found it at the Goodwill Bargain Barn, which is where Goodwill sends all its overstock. It’s a large room full of bins they rotate every 30 minutes or so,” Elaina, who only shared her first name, told Newsweek.

Elaina said she had always wanted a KitchenAid, but had been deterred by the steep price, with the appliances often retailing between $279 and $500. “I was completely shocked when I found it, as I’ve been wanting one for years but they’re so expensive. I knew it’d be a long time before I’d be able to afford one brand new. Even second-hand, they usually cost quite a lot,” she said.
Despite not knowing how much she’d be charged at checkout, Elaina was determined to take the mixer home, and was thrilled when it came up at just $4 on the till. “I’ve never been charged more than $6 for an electronic from there before. Even if it was $50, I’d honestly have bought it—however, as that’s still a great price,” she said.
The excitement hasn’t worn off yet, but Elaina plans to take some time clean up her new treasure and make a minor adjustments.
“I haven’t used it just yet as I need to find time to clean her up and adjust her tilt that’s slightly unaligned, but that should be easy enough. I’m so excited to use it. I have a thousand ideas and more on what I’ll make,” she said.
Unable to keep it to herself, Elaina headed to Reddit‘s popular r/ThriftStoreHauls subreddit to share her find where she said: “I don’t know how I got there first, it was laid so perfectly flat when they rolled out the bins no one saw it til I picked it up, and yes she works.”
The post, which amassed more than a thousand upvotes since being shared last week, was captioned: “I think this is my best ever find I’m still in shock.”
“FOUR DOLLARS?! Legendary!” wrote one commenter.
While another said: “I got mine for $20 at the Salvation Army store and thought it was the best. I bow deeply to your superior find.”
Others shared their hopes of stumbling upon a similar deal in the future. “May the lord bless me the way he does others. On a real note, congratulations for real!!!” one user wrote.
“It feels nice to receive positive reactions and to talk about how crazy of a deal it is with the commentary!” Elaina said.
