Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry has exited Game 1 vs the Minnesota Timberwolves due to an apparent injury.

Curry attacked the lane and finished at the rim, but quickly reached for his leg and motioned toward the bench. As soon as the action paused, he limped off the court and made his way directly to the locker room.

The two-time MVP finishes the game with 13 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting from the field, one rebound and one assist in 13 minutes of action. His absence will certainly be felt as he is undoubtedly their best and most impactful player.

All attention now shifts to veterans Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green as the team’s leaders. Meanwhile, Curry’s injury casts uncertainty over the Warriors’ outlook.

Entering the series as underdogs marked unfamiliar territory for Golden State—the first time since 2014, when they were +170 underdogs against the Clippers and fell in a tightly contested seven-game battle.

This postseason, the Warriors made history by becoming just the second No. 7 seed since 1988 to be favored in a first-round series—and the first to actually come out on top.

If Curry is ruled out for a significant period of time, that will likely spell danger for the Warriors and their title chances. Golden State has a chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2022, the year they won their last title.

In their way are the Timberwolves, led by their young superstar Anthony Edwards. It won’t be an easy task; however, the Warriors have been one of the league’s hottest and best teams since acquiring Butler before the February trade deadline.

Things have been clicking for the Warriors, and after an epic seven-game series with the Houston Rockets, they will look to win three more series from now till mid-June.
