
A Texas realtor and her client were left scratching their heads when they encountered an unusual door design, that made getting into the shower a puzzling challenge.
Jennifer Green, a realtor with 18 years of experience, was showing a home when she attempted to open the glass shower door—only to have it hit the toilet. For a full 30 seconds, Green and her client struggled to figure out how anyone was supposed to enter the shower.
Finally, after repeated attempts, Green realized that the door opened inwards rather than outwards.
Green, who frequently shares quirky home design features on her accounts, told Newsweek: “I am always looking for quirky or unique things when I am on a home showing. I genuinely couldn’t figure out how anyone could get into the shower at first.”

The moment was captured in a short video that has since gained over 6.5 million views on Green’s Instagram account @jenngstyle. The caption read: “My buyer and me for 30 seconds trying to figure out how to get into the shower.”
The post drew a mix of amusement and concern from commenters. TikToker @mrsmhibler_idahorealtor said: “So you can’t turn the shower on until you’re in or get water spraying against the door. A genius installed that door.”
Another commenter, @sweater_ghost, added: “The way I would forget and shatter the door on the toilet…”
Others also questioned the design choice, with @_.carlee.beth saying: “I’d be taking that out so fast.” While @sidneyreyn asked: “Why wouldn’t they just put a sliding door instead?”
For some, the flawed bathroom layout was a true dealbreaker. “This would keep me from buying the house,” commented @mrsf488.
A change could be coming to the Texas housing market, with a bill, sponsored by Republican state Sen. Paul Bettencourt, passing the state Senate with a 28-3 vote on Wednesday
The proposed legislation, known as Senate Bill 15 or SB 15, would eliminate city-mandated lot sizes greater than 1,400 square feet for new neighborhoods.
Posting on X, Sen. Bettencourt wrote: “With housing costs skyrocketing and Texas facing a shortfall of 306,000 homes, we must act! SB 15 cuts minimum lot sizes by government but allows the private sector developers to combine them as needed to produce the housing stock we need in cities above 150k in population.”
Senate Bill 15, now making its way to the Texas House of Representatives, would need to be signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Green says she was amazed the walkthrough of the Texas home captured so much attention: “The video did well on TikTok so I put it over on Instagram in hopes it would be viral there as well.”
