The WWE tenure of Karrion Kross and Scarlett appears to have come to an end. On the day their contracts were reportedly set to expire, Sunday, August 10th, both performers were moved to the official alumni section on WWE.com.
This move is the latest development in a week of public speculation and conflicting reports regarding their contract status. The roster page change is typically WWE’s silent confirmation that a talent is no longer with the company.
Karrion Kross’ Week of Chaos And Confusion
The move to the alumni section follows a chaotic week of reports about their expiring contracts. Initial reports from Fightful Select stated their deals were set to expire without a new offer on the table. This was followed days later by a conflicting report from the Wrestling Observer stating that a new deal had, in fact, been offered.
Kross himself addressed the situation in a podcast interview released on Friday. He claimed that much of what was being written was “not true,” but also expressed his hope to remain with the company, only adding to the confusion.
This entire public saga has led many fans to speculate that it could be an elaborate “worked shoot” storyline. WWE recently blurred the lines between reality and fiction with R-Truth’s contract status, using legitimate-seeming news reports to set up a major on-screen angle. A new report from Fightful Select acknowledges this possibility, noting they are “cognizant of a potential work” and that Kross and Scarlett will likely be “answering a lot of questions” in the coming days.

This theory is fueled by the recent groundswell of fan support for Kross. The “We Want Kross” movement on social media and at live events has been a response to his more intense character work in 2025, particularly during his high-profile feud with Sami Zayn.

Karrion Kross’ Highs and Lows
If this is the end of his WWE run, it marks a frustrating conclusion to a career of extremes. Kross was a dominant, two-time NXT Champion who was positioned as an unstoppable force. However, his main roster career has been marked by inconsistent booking, including a disastrous initial call-up in 2021 that led to his release.
He was brought back by the new creative regime in 2022, but has struggled to find a consistent place in the main event scene. For now, the wrestling world waits for an official statement to learn if this is a legitimate departure or the beginning of a masterful new storyline.
