Trump Says He Got Every Answer Right in Cognitive Test During Physical

President Donald Trump spoke to reporters while aboard Air Force One on Friday night, revealing he took a cognitive exam as part of his yearly physical and got “every answer right.”

Newsweek reached out to the White House via email Friday night for additional comment.

Why It Matters

The president of the United States typically gets a physical every year at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and the results are usually made public.

Trump’s last annual physical while in office in 2020 indicated that the president was 6-foot-3, 244 pounds and had a blood pressure reading of 121/79, according to results released by the White House.

His current state of health has been somewhat of a mystery the last five years, as his exams have not been made public. Trump often touts his health, even previously challenging former President Joe Biden to a mental acuity test.

What To Know

Trump said he thinks he “did well” in the exam, while speaking to reporters, adding that the report will likely be released on Sunday.

“I wanted to be a little different than Biden, I took a cognitive test. And, I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right,” Trump said. “I took just a lot of different tests, having to do with the heart, having to do with other things, and I think you’ll find that I’m—they’re gonna release the report on Sunday, I think you’ll find it very good.”

Trump added anecdotally that he believes he’s taken a cognitive exam four times and “got nothing wrong,” saying “that’s what the American people want.”

The president added that he felt like he was “in very good shape—good heart, a good soul, very good soul.”

What People Are Saying

Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia on X, formerly Twitter, on Friday: “President Trump is reporting to Walter Reed for his annual physical. I am sure he will have a great report because I know he is in fantastic shape and is sharp as a tack! However, House Representatives and Senators should have to have physicals as well and the results should be public.”

Greene added: “Drug test, alcohol consumption, and specific prescription medication usage should be known to the public. We have many serving that are not mentally or physically functioning well enough to serve. Even some who are barely functioning and whose staff fully control their voting cards! When your Rep or Senator is constantly using their staff like nursing home care workers, it’s time for them to RETIRE and it’s time for them to be replaced! This goes for both sides of the aisle!”

Brian Krassenstein, who gained popularity on social media with his criticisms of Trump, posted to X on Friday: “This video alone shows me that he has some cognitive issues or at least personality disorders. A cognitive test isn’t like a school test where you’re expected to get everything right—it’s designed to measure how your brain works, not how much you know.”

Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday: “I am pleased to report that my long scheduled Annual Physical Examination will be done at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Friday of this week. I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done!”
