Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning Receives Tough Reality Check on Future

Arch Manning

The Texas Longhorns and quarterback Arch Manning are widely predicted to be one of the best teams in college football during the upcoming 2025 season.

Manning has received a lot of hype over the last few years. He has patiently waited his turn behind Quinn Ewers and is now set to take over as the Longhorns’ starting quarterback.

Due to the immense amount of hype he has received, Manning is facing a lot of pressure. Entering his first season as a starter, the nephew of NFL greats Peyton Manning and Eli Manning is expected to lead Texas to national championship contention.

While he has shown elite potential, it can take some time for a player to develop on the field.

Keeping that in mind, one notable college football analyst has spoken out with cautionary words about Manning.

During a segment on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” college football analyst Danny Parkins spoke out with a clear message about Manning.

“Arch is going to get that chance, but normally when it’s a guy that gets all the hype beforehand, it’s tough to live up to,” Parkins said. “Jimmy Clausen obviously didn’t. Trevor Lawrence ended up being the No. 1 overall pick and clearly hasn’t lived up to the hype thus far, though the Jaguars gave him that second contract.”

Those comments came after the recent remarks from Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. Of course, the Browns were rumored to be enamored with Manning and hoping to snag him in the 2026 NFL Draft if he entered it.

“I think if you know the Manning family, they won’t mention Arch at all,” Haslam said. “I bet he stays in college for another two years. So that’s not worth discussing.”

Last season, Manning received some valuable playing time. He completed 67.8 percent of his pass attempts for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions, while also rushing for 108 yards and four scores.

There is no denying the talent and potential that Manning possesses. He has a legitimate opportunity to be a superstar in the NFL at some point, but patience will be necessary to make sure that he has the best opportunity to succeed.

It will be very interesting to see what the upcoming 2025 college football season has in store for Manning and the Longhorns.
