A dog’s emotional reunion with her “nanna” after surviving a brutal attack by a large Rottweiler has left internet users in tears.

In a clip posted by her owner Ruth Swingler, 28, pomchi Chloe can be seen sitting on top of the couch peering out the window.

The moment she spots her nanna, Swingler’s mom, she lets out a series of emotional howls and licks her face, visibly overjoyed to see her.

Swingler, from Pennsylvania, told Newsweek that weeks before she was out for a walk with her eight-month-old baby, husband Christopher and Chloe on a peaceful trail near the house.

Only occasionally do they run into other dog walkers but this time, they passed a young family with two large Rottweiler mixes. As soon as one of the dogs spotted Chloe, it came towards her.

“I screamed ‘no!’ instinctively because I didn’t want the dog anywhere near Chloe because even if it didn’t want to harm her, we don’t allow dogs to greet her because she’s always been afraid,” Swingler said.

Hearing the commotion, the other owner tried to pull their dog away but it broke free from its collar.

“It was absolutely horrible for the next 10 seconds as the dog had Chloe fully in its mouth throwing her around,” Swingler said. “Thankfully, my husband acted so quickly and tackled the dog [putting] his hand right in its mouth in order to get Chloe out.”

The family rushed home to get Chloe help and she was taken directly to the animal hospital.

The 12-year-old dog had suffered internal bleeding around her lungs, a partially collapsed lung and puncture wounds across her abdomen.

She stayed in the hospital overnight, where her condition was closely monitored.

“When we picked her up, my husband was in tears when we walked through the door,” Swingler told Newsweek. “I think everything was traumatizing and we really didn’t know if we’d be picking her up again. Chloe howled on the car ride home when we got close to our house, I think because she was relieved to be home.”

Swingler decided to wait until later in the day to let Chloe’s nanna visit because she tends to get overexcited.

“When Chloe saw her, she cried out in a howl, a reaction she’s never had to seeing her,” she said. “We truly felt she was telling nanna in her own way what happened.”

The clip, which has been viewed over 266,000 times, made internet users emotional. Hundreds commented, sharing their best wishes for Chloe’s speedy recovery.

“Poor baby just wanted her momma,” one user wrote.

“Oh I hear her pain, she’s telling nana everything that happened,” another wrote.

Three weeks later, Chloe’s recovery has been remarkable. Her staples have been removed, her internal bleeding has stabilized and she’s acting more like herself every day, Swingler said.

“She has stopped shaking in fear and is back to running around the house,” she explained. “We are grateful the couple whose dog attacked couldn’t have been more remorseful. They covered all the vet bills and my husband’s urgent care bill.”
