Steelers Make Major Aaron Rodgers Announcement

On Thursday afternoon, it was reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers had officially come to terms on a deal. He has flown to the city to iron out all of the final details and to sign his contract.

Rodgers will become the next starting quarterback for the Steelers. Along with that, his presence immediately makes them a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

All offseason long, the expectation has been that Rodgers would sign with Pittsburgh. While the process dragged out longer than many would have liked, he will get in plenty of work with his new teammates in preparation for the 2025 NFL season.

Now, on Thursday evening, the Steelers have made a major announcement regarding Rodgers. They have officially announced that they have agreed to terms one a one-year deal with him that is pending a physical.

“We have agreed to terms with QB Aaron Rodgers on a one-year contract, pending the completion of a physical,” the announcement read.

This will bring two extremely intriguing matchups for Pittsburgh. In Week 1, Rodgers and the Steelers will be facing off against Justin Fields and the New York Jets. It’s a matchup between two quarterbacks that switched between the two teams.

Later on in the year in Week 8, Rodgers will have a chance to play against the Green Bay Packers. The matchup between the future Hall of Famer and Jordan Love will be must-watch television.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Jets, Rodgers completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Even though the team as a whole did not play well, Rodgers was not the problem.

Even at 41 years old, he is still the kind of quarterback who can power a team to the postseason. With the contract being a one-year deal, this could very well be his final NFL season and his last chance to pursue another Super Bowl.

It will be interesting to see how the upcoming season goes for both Rodgers and the team. Pittsburgh is going to have a lot more eyes following the signing.

Assuming the physical goes well and Rodgers officially signs, everything will switch to one of the best quarterbacks of all-time gearing up for a potential farewell tour with one more the most storied franchises in the NFL.
