Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

The bad news is that the crazy, hilarious dance number from Season 1 of “Peacemaker” is going away, but the good news is that it’s because a brand new dance number is coming for Season 2, with more people and a new song.

That’s the news from Danielle Brooks who plays Amanda Waller’s (Viola Davis) daughter Leota Adebayo in “Peacemaker.” Brooks was doing press for “A Minecraft Movie” when the folks at CBR asked her if there was anything she could spill about “Peacemaker” Season 2.

“The only thing I can tell you, which I don’t know if it’s, I don’t think it’s a spoiler, but there is a new dance,” Brooks answered. “There is a new dance, and it includes more people.”

We already knew a new intro would need to be recorded for “Peacemaker” Season 2; if for no other reason than because a lot of the characters represented in the Season 1 dance number don’t survive and so probably won’t appear in Season 2. But it is something of a surprise that there are more people in the new number.

Every episode of “Peacemaker” Season 1 includes an opening credits sequence with a dance number so ridiculous that if “Peacemaker” didn’t have so many comedy elements, you would think the show lost a bet. It’s all done to the banger “Do Ya Wanna Taste It?” by the Norwegian glam metal band Wig Wam.

James Gunn has confirmed to Collider that there will be a new song for Season 2. He hasn’t revealed what that song is but he did tell the site it will go along with the themes of the second season: “I think it’s the second season is much more about the characters and the interconnectivity between the characters and their personal lives, and it’s more about Chris Smith than it is about Peacemaker, and so I think that the song reflects that, overarching theme.”

We don’t know a lot about “Peacemaker” Season 2’s plot, but one of the more intriguing additions to the cast hints at the title character having to confront one of his worst acts. Frank Grillo plays Rick Flag Sr., father of Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag, who Peacemaker kills in 2021’s “The Suicide Squad.”

“Peacemaker” will stream on Max in August 2025.
