Passenger Recalls Sitting Next to Toddler on Flight—Response Is Eye-Opening

Toddler girl embraced on plane.

A video about a passenger recalling “the most wholesome” moment shared with a kid on a plane has captivated users on TikTok.

The anecdote was detailed in a video posted by @kippyyyk and amassed over 250,000 views since it was shared on April 4. The footage features a woman laying down while eating a bag of Chex Mix, a type of snack mix.

Text overlaid in the video reads: “On one of my flights, I sat next to a family and their 3-year-old and for the entire flight we played dolls and talked about animals and the sky and I shared my Chex Mix with her and we picked out matching pieces to cheers them.”

The text continues: “That was the most wholesome 4 hours of my life and now I eat Chex and think about it.”

In a caption shared with the post, the woman said: “That was a win situation for the family and me tbh [to be honest] I get scared flying alone.”

The poster is certainly not alone in her fears about flying. In a June 2021 study in Frontiers in Psychology, a fear of flying was found to be prevalent among around 10 to 40 percent of the industrialized world.

According to an April 2019 study in Aerospace Medicine and Human Performance, the “fear of flying is one of the most common phobias” and “even though flight traffic has increased, there are new fears.”

The study, which observed flight anxiety reported from 1986 to 2015, found that “turbulence, unknown sounds, and fear of terror attacks caused the most anxiety.”

‘So Pure’

In a later comment, the original poster noted: “She doesn’t even know how much she made my day. I’ve never been happier to share my snack and see how excited she was to show me all her toys OMG [oh my God] !!! So pure.”

Viewers on TikTok were touched by the interaction in the viral clip and praised the poster’s embrace of the child.

Sarah noted: “Imagine her eating Chex mix with her little friends cheers-ing them and thinking of you.” The original poster wrote: “I could cry omg.”

User maddyline000 posted: “Toddler is gonna remember and talk about you for months.”

“I love when people have nice things to say about children in public places. It’s their world too,” noted bbykatlyn.

Maria wrote: “thank you for being a part of the village. it’s so important for kids to have interactions like this with strangers.”

Makayla Price added: “As a mom, thank you. Those parents were probably so stressed about keeping her entertained and happy only to sit next to an angel like you.”

User @emilyannw5 posted: “People like you is what makes flying less stressful.”

MomthighsandWITCHvibes commented: “You have no idea of how bad every single mom needs this when we go in public. And how freaking special you are to that whole family. We need more humans like you.”

The original poster replied: “All these comments are so beyond sweet! I genuinely love interacting and taking care of kids and especially when moms are traveling alone I always look to give a hand.”

Newsweek has contacted the original poster for comment via TikTok. This video has not been independently verified.
