Packers’ Josh Jacobs Reveals Significant Injury Update Against Vikings

The Green Bay Packers are preparing for a big game in Week 12 NFL action, playing host to the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings. Leading up to the game, the health status of star running back Josh Jacobs has been a major question mark for the team.

Jacobs went down with a knee injury against the New York Giants last week. To this point this week, Jacobs has not received a concrete update about his status heading into this week’s game against the Vikings.

Over the last year and a half, Jacobs has become an integral piece of the Packers’ offense. Should he be unable to give it a go this week, Matt LaFleur will have a much more difficult task ahead of him. Emmanuel Wilson would be the next man up at running back.

With that being said, Jacobs has spoken out and offered a significant update about his injured knee.

As shared by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Jacobs gave some positive news about his injury and hopes to play against Minnesota. However, there are still some concerns that he needs to work through before being able to play.

“Josh Jacobs says 60% of his knee swelling is gone. Now about getting range of motion back,” Schneidman wrote on X. “Said he’s truly day-to-day and wants to play Sunday. Got hurt on second play of game and left in second quarter when he felt he was hurting the team.”

Thankfully, the injury was nothing extremely serious to keep him out long-term. It sounds like Jacobs is making a quick recovery, but Green Bay is known for being a cautious team when it comes to injuries. Jacobs will need to be nearly 100 percent for the Packers to put him out on the field this week.

So far this season in 10 games played, the 27-year-old star running back has carried the football 169 times for 648 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has averaged just 3.8 yards per carry, but has also caught 28 passes for 237 yards. Jacobs hasn’t been as good as he was last season for Green Bay, but he has still been a steady presence.

More information is sure to be made available about Jacobs’ status against the Vikings in the near future. For now, this is a good update.

Should he be forced to miss this week’s game, it sounds like he should have a very good shot at being back on the field for the Packers’ Thanksgiving Day matchup on the road against the Detroit Lions.
