NFL Analyst Utters Stunning Take on Giants QB Jaxson Dart

Jaxson Dart, NY Giants

Looking at quarterback situations across the league, few are as interesting as the New York Giants. Fresh off drafting their potential QB of the future, they are waiting to give him the reins and put an established veteran under center.

During the first round of the NFL Draft, the Giants traded up to select Jaxson Dart. Although he’s been nothing but impressive since arriving, New York is maintaining an old school approach. Upon signing Russell Wilson to a one-year deal in free agency, he will be the starter to open the 2025 campaign.

Seeing that he is the franchise’s long-term option, many expect that Dart takes the field at some point during his rookie year. However, it remains unknown if and when Brian Daboll will make such a move.

NFL analyst weighs in on Giants QBs Jaxson Dart and Russell Wilson

Over the past few weeks, many have tried to make a case for the Giants to make Jaxson Dart their starting QB. Seeing that the team isn’t looking to contend for a Super Bowl right now, they should be focused on the long-term vision.

Although there will need to be an adjustment period, the sooner Dart starts getting reps against NFL defenses, the better.

The latest person to chime in on New York’s quarterback room was Mike Tannenbaum. He feels the Giants are making a foolish decision in naming Wilson the starter, as Dart is clearly the better overall player right now.

“Jaxson Dart is a better player and he is a better athlete than Russell Wilson,” Tannenbaum said. “Look I understand there’s going to be growing pains, but he is someone that has energized this franchise. He understands what to do, and when you talk to the Giant organization, they’re actually more thrilled with what he’s doing off the field than on the field.”

Dart had a bit of a rough start to open training camp, but he’s settled in nicely since then. He’s also been a standout for the Giants in the preseason, racking up 291 yards and two touchdowns thus far.

Early on in camp, Daboll shut down any notion of Dart opening the year atop the QB depth chart. That said, seeing the way people are advocating for him to start now, the chatter is only going to get louder over the course of the regular season.

In the meantime, all Dart can do is continue to maximize his playing time to further show the Giants he’s capable of taking the reins now.
