A woman has gone viral after embarking on a baptism journey in the river where Jesus is believed to have been immersed.
Jori Hart (@fabsymone), 29, a global lifestyle and branding strategist, shared a video showing the moment she was submerged in the water—only for her wig to slip off as she resurfaced. She quickly retrieved it, and the clip has since garnered 718,100 likes and 10.4 million views.
“The moment I went under, I was completely in the spirit, deep in prayer, peace, and surrender. I didn’t even realize my wig wasn’t secured until the priest lifted me from the water and I felt it slipping away. I wasn’t embarrassed at all because it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Hart told Newsweek.
Hart told Newsweek that she had been traveling across the Middle East as part of her birthday tour through Qatar, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, even amid regional conflict.
She said she felt called to make the journey despite safety concerns and knew her first stop had to be the Jordan River, the traditional site believed to be where Jesus was baptized.
She explained that the significance of the moment made her forget small details like securing her wig, saying it captured who she is—present, real, and able to find beauty in everything. The experience, she said, reminded her that faith and authenticity outweigh perfection.
The Baptism Journey
Hart’s baptism took place at Bethany Beyond the Jordan, on the Jordanian side of the river. She described the site as powerful, peaceful, historic, and deeply spiritual.
Visiting had always been a dream, but standing in the water during her birthday trip made it feel especially meaningful. She said it felt like the perfect way to start a new chapter and that the moment confirmed she was exactly where she was meant to be.
What Led Up to It
Through her brand FabSymone and her travel series Journey with Jori, Hart curates intentional, luxury travel experiences that merge faith, fashion, and culture. She said her birthday tour across Qatar, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia was designed as a celebration of growth and alignment rather than a typical vacation.
To arrange the baptism, Hart coordinated ahead of time with a trusted tour company she partners with in Jordan.
Social Media Reaction
Hart said she had no idea the video would resonate so strongly online. Comments came from around the world—some viewers laughed, others cried, and many said they found the moment inspirational.
She said the response showed that faith doesn’t need to be perfect to be powerful, and that she aims to create content that sparks joy, reflection, and grace.
At first, she posted a polished version that didn’t show the wig slip, but she later decided to share the full clip. Hart said authenticity is essential to her brand, and that the experience reminded her why she tells real stories rather than focusing on perfection.
