The raccoon didn’t end up being a rally animal for the Mets. The New York club trailed 4-0 as the animal was spotted in the outfield seats.
The score didn’t change for the remainder of the game, as the Pirates took the series finale after losing the first two games of the series, each by one run.

The Mets dropped to 28-16 on the season with the loss. It’s been an incredibly successful season for New York, as they entered Wednesday with the best record in the National League, a half game ahead of the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Mets have won three consecutive series dating back to the first week of May. Before taking two of three from the Pirates, they beat the Chicago Cubs two out of three times in a series at Citi Field. Before that, the Mets got a road series win in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.
The Mets are off on Thursday before they take on the crosstown rival New York Yankees in MLB‘s Rivalry Week. The three-game series will take place at Yankee Stadium, with Friday’s series opener at 7:05 p.m. ET. Saturday’s game is at 1:05 p.m. ET, while Sunday’s series finale will be the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball telecast, starting at 7:10 p.m. ET.
