A Labrador retriever’s bizarre obsession with tennis balls has amused viewers on TikTok, encouraging many fellow pet owners to share their own canines’ similar fixations.
The Labrador’s owner, who posts under @wobblywigglyawwwwwo, had taken to the platform on August 19 with a short clip that chronicled how deeply connected the dog is to his collection of green balls that, while plastic in material, resemble tennis balls.
“And every night at dinner, I’ll be there … Every birthday party, I’ll be there,” an overlaid text read, while viewers were able to see a humorous sequence of images and videos showing the canine with several tennis balls either close by his side, or in his mouth.
“He thinks they are his children,” the dog’s owner added in the caption.
The lighthearted video has gained viral attention on the platform, amassing more than 4.4 million views and over 1 million likes to date.
The post has also unintentionally invited dozens of pet owners to open up about their own canines’ similar obsessions. Several took to the comments section with images and accounts of their own pets with tennis balls and other toys hilariously close by.
Many of these comments have garnered upward of 10,000 likes, with the video creator going to the efforts of liking many of the most enthused ones.
“I FOUND MY PEOPLE!!! (He passed away years ago but I still love this picture so much,” one viewer commented, in reference to the sea of similar animal photos. Accompanying their comment was an image of their own late pet, with their favorite toys in tow.
“Him and his chicken against the world,” another viewer said, sharing an image of their own pet.
“Literally my German shepherd,” a third viewer added, attaching a picture of their dog, while one comment read: “Milo with his fav stuffie.”
Viewers in the comments section were able to see a candid snap of Milo the dog with said favorite stuffed animal by his side.
“Best comment section I’ve ever seen,” one viewer posted.
“Now that’s what we call talent,” another added, turning the attention back on the Labrador retriever who unknowingly sparked the trend.
“They are his children what do you mean,” one commenter said, while another added: “God forbid bro have a hobby.”
