A three-game losing streak has the Lakers sitting in the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference, but the return of LeBron James has them hopeful. The King returned on Monday night in a road game against the Orlando Magic, scoring 24 points to go with six rebounds and seven assists. Luka Doncic led the team with 32 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, but the Magic outscored the Lakers 34-18 in the third quarter en route to a 118-106 victory.
The Pacers have won five in a row, leapfrogging both the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference for the No. 4 seed and home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Their most recent contest was an impressive 119-103 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, with Tyrese Haliburton scoring 24 points to go with 11 assists in just 29 minutes of play. Reserve Obi Toppin scored 20 off the bench for the Pacers, who held Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards to just 1-for-11 shooting from the 3-point line.
This is the second and final matchup of the season for the two teams, with the Lakers winning 124-117 in Los Angeles on February 8th.
