This is one of the biggest rivalries in the cricket world and pits the past two winners of this event, with India winning the 2017 edition and Pakistan winning in 2017, the last time this event was played. Pakistan is the host of this tournament, though tensions between the nation and India have led to some matches taking place in Dubai.

Pakistan comes in as the No. 3 nation in the world in ODIs, but the team lost its first match of ICC Champions Trophy play, falling by 60 runs on Wednesday to New Zealand. The loss was Pakistan’s second in a row, both against New Zealand. Pakistan has played New Zealand three times this month, losing all three.
India and Pakistan last played in June 2024 in the T20 World Cup group stage with India winning the matchup by six runs.
