Alex Ovechkin has become the all-time leading goal scorer in NHL history, passing Wayne Gretzky with his 895th career goal for the Washington Capitals. Fanatics has released new merchandise for all of the fans’ record-setting needs.

On Friday, Ovechkin tied the great Gretzky as the all-time goals leader by scoring two goals in the same game against the Chicago Blackhawks, and he has now officially surpassed the best hockey player of ever in the history books with his second period goal against the New York Islanders, bringing his total to 895 goals.
Ovechkin has played 20 seasons with the Washington Capitals, leading the league in scoring nine times during his standout career. The most he ever scored in a season was 65 in 2008, and he continues to beat Father Time, leading his team with 42 this season, despite being 389 years of age.
It was only a matter of time before Ovechkin claimed the goal title all to himself, and now fans can officially celebrate The Great 8’s accomplishment.
