A Gen Z woman is working hard—but for an unexpected reason.
Her TikTok video has gone viral after she shared the stark contrast between why she is working and why her colleagues are doing so. She wants to afford to go to the 11 destination weddings she has planned this year. Since the video was posted, it has received over 50,000 likes and attracted a wide range of comments.
“Crazy to think my coworkers are here working to provide for their families and I’m just here to pay for the 11 destination weddings I have this year,” she captioned the video. “You guys are spending it on pilates?”

In the video, she is seen in an office setting, sitting with a smirk.
The video resonated with many, sparking a flurry of understanding comments from fellow TikTok users.
“At least you should be able to pay for the last one purely on credit card points alone,” one person quipped.
“No, because why does everyone get married all together in a short time span,” another wrote. “It’s so hard to keep up financially.”
“That’s insane!” another person added. “I’ve got my sister’s wedding, mine, and two family best friend weddings! Right there with ya sister.”
In a follow-up video, the creator revealed that she has three different jobs, underscoring the financial strain of attending multiple destination weddings in one year.
The Second Rise of the Destination Wedding
Destination weddings have seen a recent rise in popularity. According to The Knot 2025 Real Weddings Study, 18 percent of couples married in what they consider a destination wedding, up from just under 10 percent during the pandemic. However, this figure still falls behind pre-pandemic levels at 21 percent.
The financial implications of attending multiple destination weddings are significant, though. Guests often bear costs for travel, accommodation and other expenses, which can accumulate, especially when attending several events in a short period. This trend has led to discussions about the financial burdens placed on attendees, particularly younger individuals early in their careers.
The average destination wedding cost in 2023 was $41,000, according to The Knot Real Weddings 2023 Study—an increase of 15 percent over 2022.
The Knot’s data also found that the average guest expense for those who traveled for a wedding ranged between $600 and $1,300.
Not everyone can afford a destination wedding, but this TikTok creator is ensuring she can. Still, there’s one thing she may not be accounting for.
“Everyone’s shook abt the 11 friends with destination weddings,” one person commented. “I’m more shook that you have enough [paid time off] to leave 11 separate times.”
