Singing legend Elton John reveals he’s rising star Chappell Roan‘s biggest fan — and they regular connect on FaceTime.
Elton, 77, opened up about the pair’s special friendship in a new interview with Them, telling the publication he first heard Roan’s breakout hit “Pink Pony Club” about three years ago.
The 77-year-old “Tiny Dancer” singer said he was initially impressed with the 27-year-old entertainer. “Then I started to FaceTime her personally and just fell in love with her,” he said. “I loved who she was, what she talked about, how brave she was, her story.”

“I love her bravery and the fact she’s not scared to speak out and she won’t do something if she doesn’t want to,” he continued.
Elton noted that he respects the newcomer for her fearlessness and how she stays focused on her art. “It is not all about doing this and doing that and going where you’re supposed to,” he said. “If you haven’t got the energy and it is taking your creative juices away, don’t do it. She’s not afraid to say that, and I love her for that.”
The pair recently got the chance to meet in person when they performed together on March 2 at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Academy Awards viewing party.
“I have to say, when I’m FaceTiming her, I’m a bit in awe of her because I think she’s so great,” he gushed, adding he always has a heartfelt message for her: “And I’m just there to say, ‘Listen, if anything happens and you’re not sure about it, just FaceTime me or email me.'”
“I’m just there for her,” he said. “She’s doing very well.”
