The Philadelphia Eagles went through a very busy offseason. They lost some key pieces from last year’s Super Bowl run and were widely expected to trade another.
Dallas Goedert was mentioned in trade rumors all offseason long. At one point, it seemed extremely likely that he would be on his way out of town. However, he’s still on the roster with OTA’s getting underway.
It’s a bit of a surprise, but Goedert has been an important piece for the offense over the years. Bringing him back always made sense if they could afford to do it. Now, the tight end is speaking out about his experience during the offseason.

As shared by NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Reuben Frank, Goedert shared honestly about his feelings while the trade rumors were swirling.

“There were definitely days that were filled with emotion,” Goedert said. “Just kind of sat on the couch and stared at the TV blankly like, ‘What’s going to happen?’ I’ve been (through) seven offseasons, and this is the first time I had to deal with it, so I’m pretty lucky. But it was an interesting feeling for sure.”
Not only did he share his feelings while the trade rumors swirled around him, he also spoke out with honesty about his contract situation.
“I’ve been very blessed to sign a good contract here (in 2021),” he said. “I wouldn’t want to play for less, you know what I mean? I feel like I know my value. I feel like the Eagles know my value. And just finding something that I was OK with, a number that I felt excited about, that my time was worth it. There’s a threshold that I felt like I deserved. And we were able to get there.”
Last season, Goedert played in just 10 games. He caught 42 passes for 496 yards and two touchdowns. In 2023, he recorded 59 receptions for 592 yards and three scores.

At 30 years old, he may not be one of the best tight ends in the NFL, but he’s a consistent presence. He’ll be valuable for Jalen Hurts to have in 2025 as well.
As the Eagles prepare to try and defend their championship from last season, having as many hands on deck as they can will be important. During the offseason, they lost pieces like defensive lineman Milton Williams, defensive end Josh Sweat, cornerback Darius Slay, cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, and linebacker Oren Burks.
Hopefully, Goedert can prove Philadelphia right for keeping him in town. It was a stressful offseason, but now it’s time to get back to work.
