Fuller was diagnosed with a concussion following the Dolphin’s Week 3 loss to the Seahawks and was unable to play in Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans. He was placed in concussion protocol during the second quarter and was later downgraded to out. Before leaving the game, Fuller recorded a pass breakup and gave up only one reception for 22 yards.
Fuller played college football at Virginia Tech, starting 12 of 13 games and recording 58 tackles and six interceptions. His impressive performance earned him the title of Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year. Fuller returned as a starter for his sophomore season in 2014.
He was initially expected to be a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, but a torn meniscus ended up being quite the setback. He was eventually selected by the Washington Redskins (now the Washington Commanders) in the third round (84th overall) and quickly became an important piece of Washington’s secondary, impressing with his ability to defend the pass and create turnovers.
Fuller got off to a strong start in his career with the Washington Commanders, known for his ability to cover receivers. He completed his rookie season in 2016 with 42 total tackles (32 solo) and two pass deflections, appearing in 13 games and starting six of them. After a few seasons with Washington, Fuller was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 as part of a deal that brought quarterback Alex Smith to Washington.

During his time with the Chiefs from 2018 to 2019, Fuller became an integral part of their defense and played a key role in their Super Bowl LIV victory in 2020, where they defeated the San Francisco 49ers. Fuller made several key plays in the final moments of the fourth quarter, including a pivotal pass deflection and an interception off a throw by Jimmy Garoppolo, both of which were crucial in helping the Chiefs secure the win.
In 2020, Fuller was traded back to Washington in a deal that sent cornerback Bashaud Breeland to Kansas City. In March, Miami announced they had signed cornerback Kendall Fuller as an unrestricted free agent
