This offseason is seemingly going to be dominated by the top free agents on the market, including superstar Kyle Tucker.
Tucker’s free agency sweepstakes will likely result in him signing a deal close to or above $400 million. The Athletic’s Jim Bowden recently projected Tucker would sign a huge $427 million contract.
The Chicago Cubs are likely going to try to re-sign him, but it feels very unlikely. Instead, Sports Illustrated’s Ryan Phillips recently listed the Los Angeles Dodgers as one of the top landing spots for Tucker.
“Most MLB fans are going to hate this, but it’s the fit that makes the most sense. While the Dodgers are undoubtedly a juggernaut, their biggest offensive weakness was in the outfield during the 2025 campaign,” Phillips wrote. “LA.’s left fielders combined to produce -2.4 WAR, led by Michael Conforto’s brutal season (-0.7). Teoscar Hernandez (1.5) also had an average campaign after signing a big contract in the offseason, while Any Pages (3.8) broke out before falling apart in the postseason. Adding Tucker would allow the Dodgers to shift Hernandez to left field, where he belongs, and shore up the only weak spot in the team’s lineup. And, let’s be real, they won’t have an issue affording his massive deal.”
The Dodgers seemingly have the money to sign any free agent they want. Tucker wouldn’t be an exception to the rule.
The Dodgers need an outfielder to replace Michael Conforto on their roster, and there’s no better option on the market than Tucker.
It would be an expensive move, but the Dodgers can afford it. If they can pull it off, they’d be the heavy favorites to win the World Series again next season.
