Dak Prescott Opens Up on Off-Field Bonding With Cowboys WR

Coming off an injury-ridden 2024 season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is aiming to have a bounce-back year. Ahead of training camp, he has been hard at work building a stronger connection with multiple key members of the offense.

With Prescott set to be back in action, the Cowboys were hard at work this offseason upgrading the cast of talent around him. Their biggest swing was acquiring wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Though he’s had some off-field drama derail him some, Dallas is hoping the dynamic wideout can be a substantial upgrade.

While some viewed trading for Pickens a risky move, Prescott isn’t worried about his past situation. Having the chance to get to know him more, the star QB is only growing more confident that his presence will yield positive results for the Cowboys.

Earlier this summer, Prescott held a small retreat in Georgia where he and some members of the offense got in extra work ahead of training camp. Having the chance to get to know Pickens more, he was impressed with the intelligence he displayed.

“It was as beneficial as any trip has been,” Prescott said. “That knowledge, that involvement, it shows you a guy that loves football and that, to me, deletes a lot of the things you heard in the past about him. Great dude, loves his teammates and excited as hell for this season. I know he is and I know he’s happy to be in a fresh new spot and excited for what he’s going to do for us.”

Heading into his new situation, Pickens has a chance to drastically alter his perception across the NFL. Alongside CeeDee Lamb, he has a chance to form one of the league’s top receiver duos. Also, with Dallas looking to get back in the title hunt, he could be a foundational piece to a team with championship aspirations. The key for Pickens will be putting the past behind him and keeping his energy and focus on the field.

Pickens has a lot riding on how he performs in his first season with Dallas. Now in the final year of his contract, he has his impending free agency to worry about. Knowing this, he’ll want to be on his best behavior while showcasing his talents on the field.

As Pickens prepares for the next chapter of his NFL journey, one thing he has going for him is that Prescott is eager to get him in the mix.
