Cowboys Coach to Meet With Micah Parsons Amid Latest Stunt

Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas Cowboys

Heading into the 2025 season, no new head coach has it harder than Brian Schottenheimer. Along with being tasked with getting the Dallas Cowboys back on track, he’s had to lead the group amid a messy standoff between ownership and a foundational piece of the roster.

Since training camp got underway, Micah Parsons has been the primary storyline for the Cowboys. He remains frustrated that he hasn’t worked out a contract extension, resulting in an array of public jabs at the front office. Following some choice actions during the team’s preseason finale, he finds himself in the headlines yet again.

In the midst of preparing for Dallas’ Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, Schottenheimer will attempt to get some answers out of Parsons regarding his future.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer plans to meet with Micah Parsons

Despite not playing in the game, Parsons ended up going viral during the second half of the Cowboys’ 31-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. While the offense was making its way down the field, the star linebacker was seen lying stretched out on the trainer’s table.

It’s worth mentioning that Parsons has been dealing with back tightness for weeks now. However, as the photos of him circled on social media, he faced accusations of sleeping while the game ensued.

Following this discourse, Parsons took to social media to set the record straight. While speaking with the media Saturday, Schottenheimer broke his silence on the matter. He plans to have a face-to-face conversation with Parsons before fully giving his thoughts on the events that transpired.

“Without talking to Micah, I need to figure out what he was doing and why he was doing it,” Schottenheimer said on a conference call Saturday, per ESPN. “So, until I talk to him, I’m obviously not going to talk about it.”

Lying on the trainer’s table mid-game is not the only thing Parsons is facing backlash for from Friday night. Though he was one of many Cowboys players in street clothes, he was the only one not donning his jersey.

Schottenheimer already has a lot on his plate preparing for his head coaching debut, and now he has even more business he needs to handle. This meeting could be productive, as it’ll likely be a sign of what Parsons’ availability will be against the Eagles.
