Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Sends Pointed Warning to the NFL

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs came up just short of another Super Bowl win last season against the Philadelphia Eagles. All offseason long, they have been thinking about that loss and gearing up for the 2025 season.

Needless to say, a loss in the Super Bowl is a good way to put a chip on a teams shoulder.

For the Chiefs, that championship would have been their third in a row. With Mahomes leading the way, Kansas City has turned into one of the best dynasties in the history of the NFL.

Keeping that in mind, Mahomes spoke out on Monday with a very clear warning to the rest of the NFL. He believes that this year’s version of the team has a chance to be elite and possibly even the best version of Kansas City that the league has seen to this point.

Mahomes sent his warning during an appearance on the “Up & Adams Show” with Kay Adams.

“We have the talent to be the best team we’ve had,” Mahomes said. “You’ve got to go out there and prove it, and until we prove it, I’m not going to say we’re the best, but if we go out there and win that Super Bowl, then we can say we’re the best one.”

A message doesn’t get much more pointed than that. Mahomes is very confident in his team’s ability and isn’t scared to show it.

Last season with the Chiefs, Mahomes had a solid year but it wasn’t one of his best. He completed 67.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while also running for 307 yards and two more scores.

Around him, Kansas City has put together a talented offense. He will have Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Jalen Royals as his top targets. Isiah Pacheco and Karrem Hunt are featured at running back.

Andy Reid has all of the pieces in place to win. Mahomes is clearly motivated to win another ring. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs are able to make that happen and remain at the top of the AFC.
