The Kansas Chiefs reached the Super Bowl yet again this past season, but were embarrassed by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Given their experience and talent, their Super Bowl window is far from closed, but that doesn’t mean they can just relax in the offseason.
In a Sports Illustrated article from Matt Verderame, where each major free agency move is graded from A to F, the Chiefs have three moves graded.
They signed Kristian Fulton, a cornerback from the Chargers, Jaylon Moore, a left tackle from the San Francisco 49ers, and running back Elijah Mitchell, also from the 49ers.
Fulton and Mitchell earned B grades, while Moore earned a B- grade, showcasing the solid but not flashy offseason the Chiefs have had so far. Each of these signings should contribute next year while not being paid top market prices.
Starting with Fulton, he signed for two years and $20 million. He provides some needed depth in the secondary at just 26 years old, with five years of experience under his belt.
He should help form a formidable secondary with Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. A B grade seems fair for this signing.

Mitchell was a starting running back at one point in Kyle Shanahan’s elite zone running scheme, thriving just as many other 49ers backs have in recent years.
With Isaiah Pacheco struggling due to injury and Kareem Hunt being a late-season signing, Mitchell, while unlikely to be the full-time starter, could at least challenge for some carries and serve as an injury replacement.
At one year, $3.5 million, a B grade feels fair once again.
For Moore, he earned a B- for his two-year, $30 million deal. Given the need at left tackle after trading away guard/tackle Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears, this signing, while not one of the marquee names, is another solid signing for the Chiefs.
Moore filled in for Trent Williams at times last season at left tackle, and looked solid, so a B- or even C+ makes sense given his lack of starting experience. The years and money aren’t extreme, so overall, the move is a pretty good one on paper. However, time will tell if he can hold up against an elite pass rush like the Eagles.
Heading into 2025, the Chiefs seem in prime position yet again to win the AFC. With a good draft and some more B-caliber signings, they should once again dominate the AFC West and challenge for a Super Bowl title, potentially their fourth Super Bowl in seven seasons.
