Cat Gets Stuck to Clothes Line, Internet Obsessed With Her Lack of Response

British Shorthair Cat Lays In Garden

A nonchalant cat has gone viral for her refusal to react after getting snagged on a clothes line, a moment that has charmed millions of viewers on TikTok.

The short clip, posted on April 6 by the cat’s owner under @bethanhislop, shows the feline lying placidly on a garden lawn beneath a line of washing. Despite her paw being caught in a piece of hanging clothing—claws fully embedded—she remained completely motionless. Her languid demeanor, even in the face of minor entrapment, has led to plenty of laughter among viewers online.

“She got stuck and then just gave up,” read the overlaid caption on the now-viral video, which has amassed over 2.2 million views and more than 466,000 likes to date.

The cat’s owner added the caption: “Hard relate.”

With over 1,000 comments, the video has sparked a flood of amused responses from TikTok users, with many poking fun at the hilarity of the moment with lighthearted jabs. Others highlighted how similarly their own cats behave when caught up in a minor crisis.

“I love how cats reaction to getting stuck is often just ‘well this is my life now,'” one viewer said.

Cats are the funniest [people] around I swear to God,” another added.

“My cat does this to me constantly with EVERYTHING that I’m wearing,” another said. “Constant stuck claws.”

“Me accepting my fate when I can’t reach the TV remote,” another viewer commented.

“Me holding on to my last thread of hope,” another said.

“Having just become a rescue cat mum, nothing cats do is unplanned or chill,” another added. “There’s a reason for holding on to that sheet.”

“Makes you wonder how cats would survive without humans,” another said.

“The [worrying] thing is this is the smartest of my 3 cats,” the cat’s owner said in response.

“She’s actually paragliding in her cat brain,” another viewer said. “Mind your business.”

“How your email finds me,” another joked, while another added: “So you think she would consider this a learning moment? NOPE.”

Even TikTok joined in with the fun, with the platform’s U.K. account commenting: “No she’s the keeper of the clothes.”
