From 1997 to 2003, fans of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” followed Sarah Michelle Gellar, as the eponymous hero, as she ripped through hordes of demons, vampires, monsters, robots, and more. Now a sequel series is on the way with Gellar returning to oversee the training of a new slayer.

When Does the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Release?
At this point, there’s no way to tell when we can expect to watch the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot.
Is Anyone Returning From ‘Buffy’ Or ‘Angel’?
Yes, Sarah Michelle Gellar will be returning in a recurring role and she will also be executive producing the reboot.
A number of “Buffy” alum have commented on the reboot, but so far there is no word whether or not they will actually appear in it.
When Charisma Carpenter was asked by Collider at the Indiana Comic Con whether or not she’ll be in the reboot, she answered, “I hope so. From what I understand, there isn’t even a pilot at the moment, so I hope — if I am involved — I hope so in some fashion it’s more in a substantive way. That would be my dream.”
After Gellar commented about the reboot on social media, David Boreanaz responded with, “Excited for you and your journey. Enjoy the moments and continue to always give back to the fans. God Speed.”
Who Else Is In the ‘Buffy’ Reboot?
So far, no one else is known to be cast in the “Buffy” reboot, but we do have information on some of the characters.
The new slayer is being called Nova, but according to TVLine, this name is a placeholder and not the character’s actual name. Nova is a very smart girl and, like Buffy, a loner. She’s said to be, in some ways, more like Alyson Hannigan’s Willow than Buffy.
Nova will have two close friends. One is Hugo, an “out and proud” nerd who comes from wealth. Then there’s Gracie, who’s described as a vampire expert and an acolyte of Buffy’s.
What Is the ‘Buffy’ Reboot About?
We don’t have a lot of details on the story or plot of the “Buffy” reboot, but it seems like Buffy won’t be the chief protagonist. Instead, she’ll be helping to train Nova. We wouldn’t be surprised if she steps in to kick a little butt on her own every now and then.
