Bryson DeChambeau still hasn’t found his best golf at the PGA Championship, though he’s certainly improved from day to day. DeChambeau shot a second round 68 to move into the top 15 with the afternoon wave still to play.
The reigning US Open champion‘s performance on Friday included five birdies and two bogeys. He started on the 10th hole and played the first nine with two birdies and no bogeys, but struggled as the round progressed.
He would close his day with a frustrating bogey on the par-4 9th.
He then addressed the media after his round.
“It was a weird day today, much like yesterday,” DeChambeau said after his performance. “I felt like I was playing good, just didn’t get anything out of it.”
“Today was a little bit better on some of the holes. Still got some weird breaks out there. That’s what this golf course does to you. It was tricky with the wind kind of swirling, but for the most part, I felt pretty good.”

The LIV Golf star praised the course conditions at Quail Hollow, highlighting the tough challenge it presented during the first two rounds:
“The pins have been mostly on top of crowns this week, which has made it a very difficult test of golf,” he said. “You have to have your irons super precise this week, which we all know how good my wedges are, so that makes it a little bit more difficult for me. That’s okay, though. It’s a great test.”
A day earlier, DeChambeau carded three birdies and three bogeys to finish the first 18 holes at even par. His position on the leaderboard was far from the top, despite being one of the main favorites for the title.
After the first 36 holes, the 31-year-old is the best LIV player in the field, tied with Richard Bland. However, several of his league colleagues have yet to finish the round, including Jon Rahm, who is 2-under through the 8th hole.
DeChambeau has played in seven editions of the PGA Championship, finishing in the top 10 three times. His best finish has been a tie for second a year ago, when he finished one stroke behind champion Xander Schauffele.
