Jose Altuve has hit every team in his Major League Baseball career, but he’s become particularly fond of crushing the New York Yankees.
Yankees fans have made no secret of the fact that they don’t like Altuve over the years, and he’s done nothing but add to their hatred by ripping the cover off baseballs. This weekend at Yankee Stadium, he’s once again made the Bronx Bombers pay.
In the first inning of Sunday’s game, Altuve took Yankees ace Max Fried deep to left field for a 1-0 lead. The home run was his second of the series, but more importantly, it was the 250th of his career.

That means Altuve, who has spent his entire 15-year career with the Astros, is now a member of the 250-250 club. He has 250 home runs and 323 stolen bases as of Sunday afternoon.
According to the official MLB account on X (formerly Twitter), Altuve is only the second active player to achieve the milestone, joining Cleveland Guardians star third baseman José Ramírez.
Altuve also now has 15 career home runs against the Yankees — in the regular season. His most famous home run came against New York in the playoffs: a walk-off dinger to end the 2019 American League Championship Series against New York closer Aroldis Chapman.
At age 35, Altuve still has time to build on his Hall of Fame resume by becoming just the second infielder to reach to the 300-homer, 300-steal mark.
Only eight players have ever reached 300 homers and 300 stolen bases in their careers: Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Andre Dawson, Bobby Bonds, Reggie Sanders, Steve Finley, Alex Rodriguez, and Carlos Beltran.
He may only be 5-foot-6, but Altuve’s stature in the history books will always loom large.
