Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky faced off against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday afternoon. Amid what has been a disappointing all-around season for the Sky, it was another opportunity to get back on track with a big-time win.
Unfortunately, that was not the case for Reese and company.
Despite it being a very competitive and entertaining game, Chicago lost by a final score of 81-79. Reese was clearly frustrated after the team’s most recent loss.

Throughout the course of the matchup, Reese did everything she could to keep the Sky in it. She scored 22 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including knocking down 12 of her 15 free throw attempts. In addition, she racked up 15 rebounds and dished out four assists.

That simply wasn’t enough to power her team to a win.
Late in the fourth quarter, Reese’s actions caused a stir. While walking to the sideline, she smacked a clipboard out of one her coach’s hands.
Of course, that was caught on video, with Hoop Central taking to X to share the altercation.
Following the act of frustration, fans did not hesitate to jump into the comments. Most of the comments were full of criticism for the way Reese handled herself.
“She gotta get fined for that,” one fan wrote.
Another chimed in, “i don’t think the clipboard deserved that.”
“Welp, we won’t be hearing the end of this for a week,” a third fan commented.
A fourth comment read, “Inexcusable at any level man. And I go out my way to defend her.”
“It’d be one thing if she was doing that while getting blown out, but the Sky still had a chance to win the game there,” a fifth comment said.

Despite all of the negative backlash Reese is receiving, she has put together a solid all-around second WNBA season. Coming into Tuesday’s game, Reese was averaging 12.6 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
Reese let her emotions get the best of her, but it’s hard to blame her. The season has not gone well and the Sky let a win get away from them.
Next up for Chicago will be a Wednesday night showdown against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings. The game is scheduled to tip off at 8 p.m. ET.
