Kristin Cavallari has revealed she felt scared when Britney Spears contacted her after she shared her bizarre theory that the singer is a clone.
The Hills star Cavallari said on her Let’s Be Honest podcast that in a previous installment about Hollywood conspiracies, she had said she thought “Britney is not Britney” and that the Toxic singer then reached out to her.
In the new episode of her podcast, entitled The Cabal Is Trying to Silence Me!, she admitted she was “scared” when she heard Spears was trying to get in touch.
Chatting to her friend Justin Anderson, Cavallari explained: “I get a call from my publicist … he calls me and he goes, ‘Guess who wants your phone number?’ I went, ‘Who?’ Britney f****** Spears. And I am going, ‘What?'”
The star said the call came after she’d discussed conspiracies, claiming Kanye West was “a clone” and that Spears was not herself. “So Britney obviously caught wind of that,” she said.
“So my initial reaction was, I was scared, I’m not going to lie. I was honestly like, ‘oh my God’.”
Cavallari’s number was passed on and she said she was excited as she is a huge fans of Spears and that she was her “idol” when she was growing up. Talking to Anderson, she said: “So we are like, holy f*** we have to be best friends with Britney.”
The star confessed she was “freaking out” and said it was “amazing” but that it was “also very weird.”
“Maybe an hour later I get a text message and I’m in a group chat with her manager and Britney Spears,” she said. “Her manager puts us on a group chat … and then Britney sent me a text and I’m not going to read it, I would love to read it, just take my word for that.”
Probed about the text message, she said that it was “a bit of a roller coaster,” going on to add: “It was one of the more interesting texts I have ever received in my life.”
“Her clone let me know that she’s not a clone,” Cavallari joked.
The reality TV star then decided to reach out to Spears outside of the group chat. She said: “I text her separately and I’m so nice and I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m hardly in L.A. anymore but when I come in December I’ll let you know’ because she’s like, ‘We should hang out’, and then she just never f****** responded!”
“Ghosted!” Anderson laughed.
Newsweek has emailed representatives for Cavallari and Spears for comment.
