The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers will renew a classic rivalry on Sunday Night Football in Week 8.
Both teams enter the matchup in somewhat uncharted waters, as the Cowboys are 3-3, and the 49ers are 3-4.
The Cowboys are coming off their bye week, while the 49ers are heading into theirs after this game. The loser of this game will have a lot to think about as they enter their next game with a losing record.
Will it be the 49ers getting back to .500 without many of their top weapons, or will it be the Cowboys getting the upset win on the road and pushing the 49ers into trouble?
The staff at Newsweek Sports has their predictions.
Noah Camras: The 49ers are officially in must-win territory, especially after the Los Angeles Rams’ big Week 8 upset over the Minnesota Vikings. Brock Purdy won’t have his usual complement of weapons, but he’ll have a strong SNF performance against a Cowboys defense without Micah Parsons. On the other side of the ball, the 49ers defense will get the big stop they need against Dallas.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Cowboys 20
Matt Levine: Dallas is entering this game reeling from injuries across their defense but luckily for them, San Francisco is also dealing with their own issues. Both sides come into this game banged up, potentially putting a damper on what should be a good game. If Dallas can control the time of possession, they may be able to grab the win on the road. It won’t be easy and in the end, the 49ers will come out on top here.
Prediction: 49ers 30, Cowboys 20
Valentina Martinez: The 49ers will bounce back in their Week 8 matchup against the Cowboys. San Francisco will reach .500 with a close win over the Cowboys.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Cowboys 24
Ricardo Sandoval: The San Francisco 49ers have dominated the Dallas Cowboys in their last three matchups, and that domination will continue on Sunday night. Although the Cowboys sit with a 3-0 record on the road, and the 49ers are a depleted bunch, San Francisco has presented many problems and is a tough matchup for Dallas. The 49ers have a ton of injuries, but so do the Cowboys, as they’ll be without Micah Parsons, Jordan Phillips, and DaRon Bland, to name a few.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Cowboys 23
