Steph Curry is dealing with a quad injury.

The Golden State Warriors star left Wednesday night’s matchup agains the Houston Rockets late in the fourth quarter. Before he left to the locker room, Curry was seen clearly in discomfort, which raised plenty of concern amongst fans.

After the game, the Warriors revealed that the initial diagnosis was a quad contusion. The star guard is set to undergo an MRI to confirm the severity of the setback, so the Warriors can have a better idea of his recovery plan.

While any injury to the top star is unfortunate, Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr felt more relieved than a head coach typically would in that situation.

“Better than an ankle or a knee,” he told reporters. “So, hopefully he can recover quickly and be OK.”

This season, Curry has battled through a minor ankle injury, but he missed minimal action as a result. On the second night of a back-to-back set, Curry sat out against the Miami Heat. The Warriors dropped their second game in a row with a 110-96 loss at the time.

Over the past two games, Curry has been back on the court. He checked in for 33 minutes against the Portland Trail Blazers, producing 38 points in a 127-123 loss. Prior to Wednesday’s action, Curry produced 31 points, four rebounds, and two assists in 29 minutes against the Utah Jazz.

While facing the Rockets, Curry checked in for 33 minutes. He struggled with his shooting, going 4-13 from the field and 2-9 from three. When Curry left the game, he had 14 points, five assists, seven rebounds, two blocks, and six turnovers.

The Warriors couldn’t overcome the Rockets, who landed a 31-point effort from the sophomore, Reed Sheppard. With that loss, the Warriors dropped to 10-10 on the year. Not only will they move forward with concerns as a team, but the Steph Curry setback will certainly be something they’ll feel uneasy about as they wait for the final results of his MRI.
