For the second week in a row, the Thursday Night Football matchup features a division rivalry that looks awfully one-sided on paper.
The red-hot Patriots (8-2) are laying almost two touchdowns against the Jets, who are just 2-8, but seeking a third straight victory following an 0-8 start.

Latest New York Jets Injury News (Thursday, November 13)
The biggest name on the injury report for New York is wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who will miss his third game of the season. He’s been ruled out due to a knee injury. Without Wilson, the Jets were shut down by Carolina in Week 7, but they had one of their best games of the year in Week 8, racking up over 500 yards of offense in a 39-38 win over the Bengals.
The Jets’ second- and third-leading receivers this year are tight end Mason Taylor and running back Breece Hall. Both Taylor and Hall will need to have huge games to keep this game close, as New York’s No. 2 receiver, Josh Reynolds, is on IR.
Starting D-linemen Will McDonald and Harrison Phillips are listed as questionable, and starting corner Azareye’h Thomas has been ruled out. With multiple key starters unavailable, the Jets will likely need some substantial turnover luck and/or continued special teams dominance (they scored on a kick return and a punt return in their win over the Browns last Sunday) to keep this game close.
Latest New England Patriots Injury News (Thursday, November 13)
The Pats are also going to be shorthanded tonight. Two starters on the New England offense, RB Rhamondre Stevenson and wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, have been ruled out, and this unit will also be missing No. 2 tight end Austin Hooper.
The New England D will not have inside linebacker Christian Elliss available, but that unit is otherwise healthy.
Jets vs. Patriots Prediction, Best Bets Against The Spread
Drake Maye has understandably gotten a ton of love for his role in the Patriots’ 8-2 start, but this defense has been stout all year.
New England is allowing just 19.2 points per game, and only one Pats opponent has scored more than 23 points. In tonight’s matchup, this team’s stout run D — which is top-10 in yards per carry allowed (3.8) — faces a tough test, as Justin Fields and the Jets are averaging 5.0 yards per carry.
If New York can win its battle with the New England front seven, this game could be a lot closer than oddsmakers expect. I don’t expect the Patriots to let that happen, though, and it’s hard to trust Fields to beat a good defense with his arm, especially with both Garrett Wilson and Josh Reynolds on the sidelines.
I’d recommend either staying away from the spread or making a small play on the Pats to cover, and I also like the over on New England’s team total of 27.5. The Patriots have cleared this line in three of their last four games, and they’re facing a Jets D that A) recently traded away its two best players and B) has allowed 27 or more points six times in games this year.
Best bet:
- Patriots Team Total Over 27.5 (-115 at DraftKings) — 1 unit
- Patriots -12.5 (-118 at FanDuel) — 0.5 units
