On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins won just their third game of the season against their AFC East division rival, the Buffalo Bills.
Heading into the Week 10 matchup, there were not many choosing the Dolphins to come away with the win, even with them having the home-field advantage, while also taking into account the opposite results for these teams last week, with the Dolphins losing to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football and the Bills winning a big game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, with a commanding 30-6 win, the Dolphins proved that any team can be beaten on any given Sunday. Although Bills quarterback Josh Allen still looked somewhat impressive on the stat sheet with 306 passing yards, Miami’s defense was able to give him problems, forcing him to throw a red-zone interception and being sacked three times on the day.
The win was even sweeter when realizing it could cost the Bills a chance to win the division, as they are now practically two games behind the leading team, the New England Patriots, after losing the first matchup between the two in Week 5.
With a win that big for a team at home that has struggled for the majority of the season, a locker room celebration is more likely to happen than not, and boy, did they. In a short social media video on X, two team members can be seen dancing inside what appear to be blue totes, surrounded by the rest of the team and engaging in a team chant.
Afterwards, it shows a clip of head coach Mike McDaniel giving a postgame speech to the team, expressing his pride in them and letting them know how much they deserved and earned the win. Dolphins’ running back, De’Von Achane, who had 225 total yards and touchdowns, made a bold claim stating that when they play complementary football on all levels, it’s going to be tough for other teams to compete against them.
Of course, there were still some critics who had something to say about the 3-6 team celebrating the win, with one comment reading, “Acting like they’re going to the Super Bowl,” and a fan saying, “Thanks for winning a meaningless game when we can’t make the playoffs. We should be tanking for a better draft pick smh.”
No matter what anyone else thinks, the Dolphins are standing behind their head coach and feel they could use the momentum from this win over Buffalo and take it into the game against the Washington Commanders next week in the first-ever regular-season game in Madrid, Spain.
