Quarterback Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills topped Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for the fifth consecutive time in the regular season on Sunday, and the oddsmakers immediately rewarded him for it.
Allen, the reigning NFL MVP, leapt into the lead as the frontrunner for the award for the second consecutive year after holding off Kansas City in Buffalo 28-21 in Week 9.
“JOSH ALLEN IS YOUR NEW MVP FAVORITE AFTER TAKING DOWN THE CHIEFS 🏆,” PFF Betting posted to its X account. “+350 ➡️ +190.”
DraftKings Sportsbook actually had Allen at +180 after the game’s conclusion, while Mahomes moved back into second place at +350. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, playing in just his second professional season, remained third in MVP odds but gained ground to +425 after besting the Atlanta Falcons and leading his team to a 7-2 record this season.

Allen set a franchise record with an 88.5 percent completion rate against Kansas City Sunday, putting up a stat line of 23-for-26 for 273 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed the football six times for 19 yards and two scores.
“To be candid, you feel it in your mechanics sometimes,” Allen said during the postgame press conference. “Early on in the game, you know when you’re — I call it ‘slotted.’ When the ball is coming out of your hand as good as you really want it. I had a really good feeling early on in this game.”
Allen also set the all-time mark for career rushing touchdowns from the quarterback position, punching in his 78th score on the ground. That vaulted him ahead of former record-holder Cam Newton, who had 77 total.
Meanwhile, Mahomes posted his worst completion percentage in 142 career games against Buffalo on Sunday.
“Patrick Mahomes had a 44.1 percent completion percentage today (15-for-34),” Ben Solak of ESPN reported on social media. “In 142 career games, that’s the worst figure. First time ever below 50 percent.”
