Are Eagles a Trade Suitor for Disgruntled Trey Hendrickson?

The Philadelphia Eagles are working the phones this summer to sharpen the roster after a long season in 2024. While they haven’t made any blockbuster deals just yet, could one be on the way soon?

Over in the AFC, the Cincinnati Bengals have a lot to think about regarding their veteran pass rusher, Trey Hendrickson. As Hendrickson has been on the hunt for a new deal, there hasn’t been a lot of positive movement lately. As a result, the Bengals are reportedly open to hearing trade calls for the veteran star.

It’s unclear if the NFL sack leader will be playing elsewhere in 2025, and a trade will be a real challenge. But time will tell.

Before training camp, Hendrickson was viewed as a potential trade candidate due to his current situation. Several NFL writers and analysts have linked the Eagles to Hendrickson as a team that could potentially have interest in the star pass rusher.

Considering the Eagles are known to load up in the trenches, he certainly brings the ideal skillset to the table in Philadelphia. However, the Eagles would have to give up assets to get Hendrickson, while paying him top dollar for the long haul. If there is one thing the NFL learned this offseason, it’s that the Eagles are saving and preparing for their eventual Jalen Carter contract due date.

But in case anybody was wondering, the Eagles have not been considered interested just yet, according to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, who revealed a handful of suitors on Sunday.

via @Schultz_Report: The #Panthers, #Browns and #Colts are among the teams that have shown interest in trading for #Bengals All-Pro Trey Hendrickson, per multiple sources.

An in-division and in-state trade is highly unlikely and any deal will be tough regardless. Cincinnati is believed to want an impact player (or two) plus a draft pick in return.

No one would put it past Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman to do his due diligence and make a call to find out Hendrickson’s price. Since the Bengals will reportedly avoid a group of teams, that could have an impact on the price.

Still, the Eagles aren’t desperate for help. They might’ve lost some key players on the defensive front in the free agency market, but they are confident that they remain strong in the pass-rushing department. Hendrickson might be an intriguing target for the Super Bowl champions, but the Eagles seem to be an unlikely destination for him at this time.
