Packers QB Jordan Love Shares Significant Injury Update

The Green Bay Packers have been dealing with quite a few injury issues as the 2025 NFL regular season draws closer. One of those injury issues has to do with franchise quarterback Jordan Love.

Love underwent a surgical procedure to fix a ligament issue on his left thumb.

While he just had the operation done, Love is expected to be ready to go for Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. Thankfully, the thumb injury occurred on his non-throwing hand.

That being said, fans have grown concerned about the Packers’ quarterback.

Last season, he went down with a knee injury in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles that forced him to miss two games. He never looked the same after that injury and was unable to live up to the hype that had surrounded him before the year began.

When all was said and done, Love completed 63.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Those were not bad numbers, but they were not the breakout performance that fans were expecting.

Despite the concern surrounding Love’s thumb surgery, the 26-year-old quarterback spoke out and offered a major update about his health status.

“I think with the time frame that we have right now, finishing up training camp and preseason and heading into the season with the choice to be going into the season 100% healthy was definitely the call I wanted to make,” Love said. “Dealing with injuries last year, I wanted to go into this thing feeling good.”

He continued on, sharing that if the injury had occurred during the regular season, another decision likely would have been made about undergoing surgery.

“If this was in the middle of the season, probably would’ve been something we didn’t get the surgery on,” Love said. “But with it still being early and I’m having time to recover and be fully ready for Week 1, the recommendation was to get the surgery.”

This is all good news for Green Bay. Love seems to be just fine and primed to start the season at 100 percent healthy.

All that fans can do at this point is to hope that he stays healthy throughout the rest of the year. Hopefully, he’ll take that leap towards superstar status that was expected from him last season.
