The Liberty once had a chance to contend for the top seed in the WNBA, but a streaky run now has them 6.5 games behind the Minnesota Lynx. The team followed a five-game winning streak with a four-game skid, then bounced back with three straight wins before the Lynx ended the run on Sunday. In the 83-71 loss, Natasha Cloud led the team with 14 points, with Jonquel Jones and Emma Meesseman adding 11 each.
Los Angeles has done an excellent job of getting back into the race by winning nine of their last 11 games, including a 94-91 win over the Seattle Storm on Sunday. Kelsey Plum scored 20 points and dished out seven assists, with Dearica Hamby adding 19 points of her own. Cameron Brink came off the bench to add 14 points and two steals on 5-for-6 shooting in the victory.
This will be the third and final regular-season matchup between the teams, after splitting the first two matchups.
