The New York Yankees have struggled for a few weeks now, and it’s starting to become concerning for the Bronx Bombers.
The Yankees are a shocking 7-9 in the 16 games following the All-Star break, including the crushing three-game sweep they suffered at the hands of the surging Miami Marlins.
The Bronx Bombers have beaten themselves a lot as of late. Their defense has been lackadaisical at times, while they seem to run themselves into at least one or two outs per game.
Recently, young slugger Ben Rice sent a strong message to the team, fans and media about the Yankees and their sense of urgency going forward.

“I wouldn’t say there’s concern, but I would say, I think a little sense of urgency would be good for us going forward,” Rice said on Sunday, via YES Network. “Just to continue do what we can to win ballgames. And that’s gonna be do all the little things. It’s gonna be, hopefully, we sync up pitching and hitting. That’s it.”
The Yankees are in third place in the American League East, sitting 4 1/2 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays at this point. They sit in the second wild-card spot, half a game up of the Seattle Mariners for the third spot.
But they’re only 2 1/2 games ahead of the Texas Rangers, who are hunting for the wild card. If the Yankees can’t right the ship in the coming weeks, there’s a chance they’re on the outside looking in on the postseason.
The good news is that Aaron Judge should be back in the lineup in the near future. Judge’s dominance can typically overshadow the smaller mistakes, but the Yankees still need to clean it up.
