The Chicago Sky have seen Angel Reese take a big leap forward in her second WNBA season. While she has shown major improvement, Reese still isn’t viewed the same by everyone as other stars around the league.
Candace Parker, a WNBA legend, has been vocal lately with her opinion about Reese.
She has been very hesitant to rank Reese as one of the WNBA’s top players. She believes that the Sky star is a good player, but that she isn’t deserving of being named one of the league’s elite.

Since refusing to rank Reese that high, Parker has seen some backlash. Many have agreed with her, but the legend decided to speak out and clarify her stance.

As shared by Yahoo Sports on X, Parker sent a brutally honest message about Reese.
“Are you taking Angel above Paige Bueckers, Arike Ogunbowale, Sabrina Ionescu, Kelsey Plum, Caitlin Clark, A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, or Breanna Stewart?” Parker questioned. “No. That does not make her a bad player. That does not make me a hater.”
There are some who won’t like that comment, but Parker isn’t wrong. Reese hasn’t gotten to a point where she would be selected over the rest of the superstars to start a franchise with. However, she could get to that level with hard work.
During her second season in Chicago, Reese has been a strong force. She has played in 23 games and has averaged 14.2 points per game to go along with 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals. In addition, she has shot 44.4 percent from the floor.

If she can continue taking leaps forward the same way she has taken a leap during the 2025 season, the Sky might just have a superstar on their hands.
Parker may receive some backlash for her honest opinion about Reese. She has made it clear that she’s a fan of what the Chicago star brings to the table. But, she thinks that Reese has more work to do before calling her elite.
Reese clearly has the drive and desire to be great. These are the kinds of comments that she can use to work harder and force her name into the “elite” conversation down the road.
