The Boston Red Sox have been without superstar third baseman Alex Bregman for well over a month now as the star recovers from a leg injury. Over the past two weeks, there have been a lot of reports indicating Boston was going to shut its star down until after the All-Star break.
But that might not be the case anymore.
On Wednesday, Red Sox manager Alex Cora revealed there was a “really good chance” that Bregman suits up again before the All-Star break. This announcement came just a few hours after Bregman’s cryptic Instagram post that seemed to indicate he would soon be back on the field.

Since losing Bregman to injury, the Red Sox are 22-19 with a few lengthy losing streaks. During this time period, trade rumors have begun to swirl as well, with some baseball minds believing the Red Sox will look to trade the aforementioned Bregman in the coming weeks.
On the season, Bregman is slashing .299/.385/.553 with 11 home runs and 17 doubles in 51 games played. He’s been worth 2.9 WAR, which would put him on pace for nearly 10.0 WAR across a full 162-game season.
As of now, the Red Sox are on a five-game winning streak ahead of the third game against the Colorado Rockies. If Boston can get its star player back in the coming week, it could be even scarier down the stretch.
Adding Bregman back to the Red Sox lineup has the potential to spark the team and turn the front office away from any selling or rebuilding trades before the trade deadline.
