Easter Sunday will fall on April 20 this year, and the Christian holiday affects mail and package delivery services from the United States Postal Service (USPS), the United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx.
The Context
The date of Easter changes every year. Easter occurs on the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon, which is the full moon that occurs on or after the spring equinox. This year, Easter falls in late April.
Several holidays related to Easter also take place during the week, including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Ash Wednesday is observed 46 days before Easter and marks the first day of lent.

Is Mail Delivered on Easter?
The USPS doesn’t deliver ordinary mail on Sundays, but it will deliver Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express. Priority mail has a one- to three-day delivery and is often used for heavy packages. This can include packages shipped by Amazon and delivered by USPS workers.
The next holiday USPS will observe is Memorial Day on Monday, May 26.
Is the Post Office Open Today?
No, most USPS post offices are closed on Sundays.
UPS, FedEx Deliveries
UPS doesn’t deliver or pickup packages on Sundays, a spokesperson told Newsweek, meaning its typical operations schedule will not change on Easter. The schedule also won’t change for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11. The next holiday UPS will observe will be Memorial Day. Its locations will be closed and no deliveries or pickups will occur.
FedEx won’t offer services on Easter Sunday, according to a 2025 holiday calendar sent to Newsweek. Normal FedEx services will be available on the Saturday before Easter, but FedEx Freight will be closed.
Easter is not a federal holiday. Most banks will be closed because it falls on a Sunday, which means most schools also will not be open. However, businesses are often operating normally.
Some Amazon deliveries could still occur on Easter Sunday, depending on the location.
What People Are Saying
A spokesperson for the USPS told Newsweek: “United States Postal Service operations will proceed as normal on Good Friday, April 18, and Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.”
