Rory McIlroy Posts 12-Word Message, Video that Goes Viral Days after Masters Win

The golf world is still basking in the history of Rory McIlroy completing the career grand slam on Sunday at The Masters. McIlroy got the job done in a dramatic playoff over Justin Rose after a topsy-turvy final round that featured plenty of ups and downs.

McIlroy is sitting out of a signature event, understandably, at the RBC Heritage just after winning the Green Jacket. However, that doesn’t mean that he is out of mind for golf fans.

On Wednesday, the five-time major champion got fans fired up with a post on social media that featured a 12-word message and a great video to commemorate the victory.

“Never give up on your dreams. Keep coming back. Keep working hard,” McIlroy wrote.

Within hours, the video had over a million views, and counting.

While McIlroy has certainly earned some time off after a busy start to the season that included three wins at big events, he won’t have too much time to rest.

He is defending his title at the Truist Championship, which starts on May 8 at The Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wissahickon Course). McIlroy won that title in 2024 at the Quail Hollow Club, but he will be hunting for bigger trophies in Charlotte this time around.

One week after defending the title at the Truist, McIlroy will head back to Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship. He has won four times in his career down in Charlotte and, barring anything unforeseen, will be the favorite heading into the second major of the season.

Naturally, that has fans dreaming about a possible calendar slam for the Northern Irishman. If he gets it done at the PGA, the U.S. Open will be a tall mountain to climb in the tough conditions at Oakmont Country Club.

However, The Open Championship is on home turf in 2025 at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. It’s a big ask, but if McIlroy can get back home with three majors in his pocket, the fanfare will be through the roof for him to get it done.
