One such person is Drew McIntyre, a multi-time world champion who was scheduled to face former World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest at the Show of Shows.

However, McIntyre suffered a surprising injury when he was choke slammed onto a car during SmackDown, resulting in glass going into his eye.

Now, it remains a question whether the match will even occur. However, if you ask McIntyre, there shouldn’t even be a question.

During an appearance on It’s Called Soccer, McIntyre opened up about the injury as well as the eye patch he was sporting.

“Part of the glass, where I landed on the windshield, bounced up and landed directly in my eyeball,” McIntyre said, per Jeremy Lambert of Fightful. “I’m currently sporting the patch, hoping I can figure this thing out and get myself on WrestleMania. It’s a fight against time right now.”

McIntyre then went on to detail the spot itself.

“It didn’t feel that bad,” McIntyre continued. “I’ve never landed on a windshield in my life. He probably should’ve thrown me on top of the car or the concrete to hurt more. I’ve never landed on a windshield, but the glass is designed to spider out.”

“I was wearing a leather jacket so thankfully I didn’t get all cut up. The fall wasn’t great, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Some debris came up in the air and landed straight in my eye, so I’m dealing with that right now.”

“The eye thing wasn’t supposed to happen. I’m not supposed to be sitting here right now with an eyepatch on, yet, I am.”

In the end, McIntyre is going to do whatever it takes to be able to participate in WrestleMania 41.

“Let’s just say this,” McIntyre said. “I’ve said to the right people that there’s no way in hell I’m going to miss WrestleMania. And the people in charge, specifically somebody in charge, has fought through quads torn off his body – I’m talking about Triple H – and understands what it’s like to be in the ring and understands how big WrestleMania is.

“If it comes to it, I have a feeling he’s just going to let it go. But I’m going to do whatever I have to do to be at WrestleMania no matter what.
